It is the first professional laboratory for systematic research and testing of textile chemicals in China, with obvious regional industrial characteristics. It is the key laboratory of textile chemicals in Zhejiang Province and the key laboratory of Shaoxing City, and has obtained the CPSC accreditation qualification of the United States. The laboratory covers an area of 6000 square meters, with an original testing equipment value of 30 million yuan, including constant temperature and humidity laboratory, static constant temperature and humidity laboratory, microbiology laboratory, etc., equipped with triple quadrupole compound linear ion trap liquid mass spectrometer(QTRAP LC/MS/MS), triple quadrupole liquid mass spectrometer(LC/MS/MS), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS), headspace mass spectrometer. Advanced instruments such as liquid chromatogram (with DAD, ELSD and FLD), gas chromatogram (with ECD, FID and headspace), near and far infrared spectrometer, and DIGI EYE image processing system. The testing capacity of the center covers dyes, dyeing and finishing additives (water treatment agents), dye intermediates and functional indicators and harmful substances, water quality, wastewater, etc.

The laboratory Test & Innovation Lab is up and running since the beginning of 2021. The lab is based in Prato and has been realized on an industrial archeology site. TIL is a modern and advanced lab offering analysis for different sectors, mainly the international fashion industry, cosmetics, the chemical and environmental sectors. As a result of years of experience, advanced technological equipment, and a sound knowledge of compliance regulations, we are considered trusted partner for the international fashion industry, cosmetics, jewelry and eyewear companies. Usually, the companies want to verify and improve along all the supply chain the safety, reliability, and technical compliance of their products. Compliance test tailored to a complex international regulations’ requirement of the global markets they are targeting.

Lab structure Three integrated departments for a customized analysis, testing and consultancy service for product compliance Customer Service, Quality and R&D departments are independent teams but at the same time complementary and interrelated, to help the chemical and physical-mechanical departments to update the technological equipment, to manage relations and communication with customers, to organize internal training and to provide consultancy services. Modern Laboratories specialized in the products conformity certification integrated with customer processes Our laboratories occupy 1,600 square meters of the over 2,600 of the new building. They are divided by specialization in five large rooms but separated and controlled to avoid any minimal and remote possibility of contamination, they report to the various lab operating departments. Safety, quality, efficiency, speed of execution, certified results, ability to customize and repetitiveness of the service are the cornerstones of a truly cutting-edge and constantly updated technological equipment: from mass spectrometers to digital microscopes, up to Real Time PCR machines of the latest generation. The high quality of the certification procedures for product compliance, it is not only guaranteed by the hardware equipment but also from our technicians’ skills. Each laboratory is connected to our software platform which allows all the information and results available in real time by the customers. If a sample needs to be tested in multiple analyses, the customer can have access to the data of each individual test just completed without wait for the executions of the others. Operation Field Chemical compliance Monitoring of restricted chemicals in compliance with mandatory national and international regulations. The chemical compliance is a key check to simplify custom activities (in import/export) and prevent potential issues at retails level. A compliance assessment and control can be requested to all materials included in a finished product: textile, leather, fur, metal and plastic accessories. More than 350 substances are currently being evaluated as “restricted” by the PRSL (Product Restricted Substance List) issued by the main Luxury brands.

Performance The finished product quality control includes a performance check of all materials used. The tests ensure high quality standards of materials and guarantee the durability of the finished products for a long-time use. In some countries (i.e. China and US) performance tests are mandatory. The tests of materials performance during all production cycle (raw material, semi-finished and finished product) support the brands in case of alternative solutions or production improvement or wip changes, and especially in testing innovative material processes.

Sustainability Chemical tests offer to customers the right support to verify the sustainability of the production process. Currently it is asked to textile and tanning companies a constant conformity checks of the chemical products used (Manufacturing Restricted Substance List - MRSL) and of the correct production processes through the production discharges (wastewater). Other examples of test are metal-free tanning and PFC and Bisphenols…The monitoring of the production processes is an indispensable check to guarantee the sustainability of the processes themselves.

Cosmetic Thanks to the skills acquired in the ecotoxicological sector, TIL has expanded its test by developing analysis methods dedicated to the cosmetic sector. We currently perform analyzes on both raw materials and finished products for the cosmetic and permanent make up (PMU) sector (regulation 2081/2020) and tattoo inks.
